UPDATE ON VACCINES FOR 16+All eligible residents are required to make an appointment. (A zip code or map search of vaccine providers can be performed online. In her nightly COVID-19 update, First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice listed ways to make appointments.

  • VAMS online system: VAMS is the Vaccine Administration Management Systemand can be used to schedule appointments at multiple clinics.
  • Call Connecticut’s COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Assist Line:  Call 877.918.2224.  The assist line is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., seven days a week.
  • Hartford HealthCare.
  • Yale New Haven Health
  • Stamford Health
  • Walgreens: Walgreens is currently offering the vaccine at 12 different locations and will soon be adding many more across the state. Appointments can be made online.
  • CVS: CVS is currently offering the vaccine in four locations and will be expanding to 12 more locations in the next week. Appointments can be made online.
  • Walmart: Walmart will be offering the vaccine at seven locations across the state, including Norwalk. Appointments can be made online.

We understand you are inundated with information from all sources.  Here are some consolidated resources for our area that will provide up-to-date information:

We work with the Social Services Department of Wilton on many joint projects. We will defer to them and their resources on the status of any events hosted at the Senior Center.  As of now, The Comstock Community Center is closed so please check the town’s website http://www.wiltonct.org for all Senior Center and Town of Wilton updates. Their phone number is 203-834-6238, and if you have any specific questions, you can also email Sarah Heath at [email protected]. In addition, the Food Pantry will be accessible from the outside side entrance of the Comstock Community Center if needed. The Dial-a-Ride program has been modified during this time, so please visit www.wiltonct.org/parks-recreation-department/pages/dial-ride, or call (203) 834-6235.

If you are in need of a food delivery you can contact Meals on Wheels at 203-762-7303.  You can also visit  www.peapod.com to schedule a grocery delivery from Stop and Shop.  There may be a several day delay due to heavier traffic. STOP AND SHOP– Special senior 60+ shopping hours each day from 6:00-7:30 AM.  

CARALUZZI’S  Special senior 65+ shopping hours for seniors from 6:30-7:30 AM.   

VILLAGE MARKET– Announced their new store hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM.  In addition, for customers over 70 starting on March 23rd if you place an order by 4:00 PM, they will do curbside delivery the next day during the hours of 1:00- 4:00 PM. NOTE:  Weekday orders only.  Place orders Monday-Friday for pickup Tuesday- Saturday.  No ice cream… They ask you limit your order to 20 items and restrict orders to 2 per household per week.  Please email orders to [email protected] with as much details as possible and include your phone number so they can call with any questions and get your credit card information.  

WALMART– On Tuesday- Senior Shopping -6:00-7:00 AM

TRADER JOE’S- Special senior help from 9:00-10:00 AM offers a special line to enter the store with added help from associates.

NOW THAT THE GOVERNOR HAS SIGNED AN ORDER REQUIRING MASKS TO BE WORN IN PUBLIC, if you need a mask you can contact Warrior Helpers at: [email protected] or visit their website: www.warriorhelpers.org

 

HELPING HANDS  is a new volunteer group in Wilton established in coordination with the Town of Wilton and Wilton Social Services. Helping hands offer help with grocery shopping, pharmacy pick-ups or a friendly call to check in.  Call Peg Koellmer at 203-451-8479 to coordinate.

If you have questions about your personal health, contact your physician directly.  If you or someone in your family needs testing call the COVID-19 Community Hotline at 888-667-9262 that services Norwalk and Danbury Hospitals. The Yale Hotline at 203-432- 6604 to see where adequate testing is occurring.  Also, if you need to fill a prescription and cannot get to a pharmacy yourself, your family member or caregiver will need to know your date of birth. CVS does online refills, but you need to visit their website at https://www.cvs.com or call our local store at 203-762-5020.

It is important to maintain your health during this time so try to maintain your physical activity.  If you have access to an outside area try to get some fresh air daily.  Walk if you can while retaining social distancing.  The Wilton YMCA offers free online classes for all ages.  You can access their virtual online classes by visiting https://www.wiltonymca.org
